Life is littered with moments of revelation and moments of transition.
Welcome to the beginning of the story. The beginning is, as always, a good place to start. I hadn’t realised that a story such as this was already within me, trying to get out. It trickled out gradually, moment by moment, over the course of six years starting in January 2019.
What was once an idea in embryonic form flourished into a trilogy of more than 130,000 words. It grew as more ideas and metaphors came to light, a light pointed by my Soul to illuminate my way towards letting go of the old me to the discovery of the new me. Well, not a new me exactly, just the me that was always there, but hidden by the vagaries of the people around me.
During the course of the writing, I had many moments of sadness, despair, and experienced a deep, debilitating depression, which ultimately led to a discovery of an honesty and an openness not felt before. Along for the ride came authenticity, together with a vulnerability I didn’t, or couldn’t, understand until the ties that kept the chrysalis shut broke open to release what was inside—the real me.
Many moments of revelation prompted an equal number of momentary transitions following on cyclically, crystallising abstraction into a solid foundation where the new could continue peacefully, and into a future full of unknowables. The unknown is not to be feared, as it’s full of possibilities from which to choose.
It’s always good to have choices.
